View Full Version : 6/5 The Weekend...

For those of you who missed it, we had fun this weekend. Well we had fun on Saturday anyway. I say we because had a group of guildies/friends go PvPing Saturday morning, and it was good. We started off by hitting the UC. It was the first time I had ever been to the UC alive (I once explored it as a ghost). We did some hawt ganking there until we got stuck by the bankers who kept summoning guards.
We eventually got overwhelmed so we decided to take the ganking to TM/Hammerfall. At TM, I caused a booboo when I chased a hunter into town and whirlwinded a couple of times killing a Civi. Cammy got mad at me for the DK. I still say the hunter should have fought like a man rather using the Civi's as cover (and yes he died).
Eventually we made it into the battlegrounds. We went 4-0 for the day with only one uneven match. It was a good first effort by us, especially the last WSG match where the game was actually really good. Only reason the last AB match was better was we got to kill Hatchet, and he got to kill us.
Special thanks to Hatchet for playing Healmeh for most of the morning. He led us through the UC and even gave us some tips in WSG which I think we shall start using. Special hate to Hatchet for leaving us in AB, then queueing up on the horde side and getting into the same match. No wonder he got such a high rank, he would stay in the BGs all day and never have to wait. But really special hate for him because he tried to disarm me. Yes he knew to try however what he saw was "PARRY", it was still funneh. (PS WTB Baron runs with Mistress, she knows why). He was probably telling all his fellow players to do the same thing.
Funnest kill, there was a tie, between Waib and I going up against a lock and me switching to SR gear to deal with him while Waib dps'd him down; then there was the rogue who tried to gank me, so I went sword and board on him, and all he saw was block, block, block, block. Good times.
So if any of you are interested, we will be doing this again on Saturday, prolly in the morning/early afternoon. Maybe longer depending on the interest.
BWL is becoming my bane. 2 months and counting on winning any wrath, and still no styleens. As Mike said, Styleens is to Telva as Garr Binding is to Gadi. I was actually surprised it didn't drop while I was in Aussie. Either way, it was a good night for all as lots of different stuff actually dropped. Still no mage chest, I think they pissed off the loot gawds somehow.
So we summoned Lords instead of killing Huhu. Fun to do something totally different. Those Lords are kinda wimpy though for being raid bosses. I guess they have to be somewhat easy so all guilds can kill em? One thing we learned is that Skwol (sp) can't be taunted off. I used taunt, MB, and CS to try and save Bal from the stacked debuffs and nothing. I eventually got aggro though.....when he died.
Afterwards we PvP'd again. Hit AB and gave a team of Warlords/Generals a run for their money. We lost 2K - 1900+. I think we forgot to defend once we got our 3 bases. I know I did. I get ADD while watching the battles from the Mill.
Oh well, MC tonight. Still missing locks, so Reyna sign up bish.

I had a good time seeing the world and the BGs from a Gnome's POV. After waiting so long for a Battleground to open up, I can totally see why the Alliance enjoys long, drawn out matches--short ones aren't worth the wait. Another point that was driven home this weekend is that Hordies get lots and lots of practice with the short queues. I'm sure you guys will become a well-oiled machine if you keep at it. :P
Sorry if I sounded cranky on TS during one of our matches--after months and months of playing on the other side of the fence, I was getting very confused at the alerts (whenever a flag is picked up) and by the blue and red messages that the battleground caller puts out--I would rush to help our flag runner at the Horde base, thinking that someone on our side had picked up the flag, when the Horde had picked up the Alliance flag and vice versa. I was so frustrated! I felt like a chump that was always in the wrong place at the wrong time! :D
Oh, and the non-HotC raids on our capitals this weekend were really fun. They got Cairne to 40%, but the Undercity raid was comical (they aggro'd EVERYTHING--Varimathras and the Battlemasters and got wtfpwned) and not as impressive as when I first "met" HotC in the Royal Quarter and created an alliance alt specifically to chat MVB up about how awesome the attempt was which led me to your boards and here I am, 681 posts later! Come back and show them how it's done!
:P
And one last thing, I was thinking about going 31/5/15, but after playing Healmeh this weekend, I'm not gonna give up my precious Piercing Howl or Enrage--thanks, Waib!

Speaking of which, we need to get Lard into TS. I was yelling at him to follow me or heal me, and guess what, he oculdn't hear me because he wasn't there to listen. Talking about confusing myself.
Don't worry, Hatchet I do believe it all turned out well in the end. Plus as you said, our mistakes lead to longer matches which is what it's all about. I got enough honor on Saturday to prolly rank back up. I have a long way to go before I can get anything decent from it, but I don't plan on grinding it out. It shall be used for fun!

No he has never been in TS, almost like Mike whom I believe has only been on once. I can see why people can get by without it in PvE but it is almost necessary to have it in PvP. So somehow I must convince him to join the darkside, and come cut up with us.

You don't use Teamspeak on your PvE 40-man raids???

No, level to 60 and then you can see Miketypefastalot in action.

That's crazy! Like, really crazy--I think TS is more necessary in 40-man PvE raids than any PvP one.
Speaking of PvE--we're up to Firemaw in BWL...any tips?

Firemaw is one of the cockblocks because of the spike damage and the dps learning not to die.
If I'm motivated later I might type up a description.
I am able to fully tank while typing at high speeds, though it is
a tad broken
up while I'm
doing it sometimes
So we don't use TS, keeps things clear anyway, no background chatter or conflicting arguments, yatta yatta.

MVB = Masochist.
I'm starting to really enjoy Blackwing Lair. Lab Packs are more funnerer than Lava Packs and now that we've seen the Suppression Room a few more times and know what to expect, even that's pretty fun in comparison to clearing from Shazzrah to Sulfuron. I cannot wait to be done with the Molten Core--WTB Chestplate of Might PST (and Bonereaver's Edge and Legplates of Wrath and Medallion of Steadfast Might).
telva
Jun 5, 2006, @ 02:32 PM
ya like he said, the 2 biggest blocks are:
healers and dps getting out of LOS during shadowflames (until everyone has an Ony cloak)
and the OTs learning when to taunt off the buffet, ie Shadowflames have a higher priority than the buffet. Therefore if a buffet is about to cast and then he starts to shadowflame, the shadowflame will always come first delaying the buffet; so the OT should not taunt until the shadowflame has ended.

You don't want the quick strike ring? Or a nice brutality blade to tank with?
Btw Hatchet, I MT'd all of ZG sans the bosses using a 2H. I finally felt like Hatchet though I have a gimped spec to do it with.
And you are right, I totally miss PH.

I have 7/8 Might pieces, Drillborer Disk, Flameguard Gauntlets, Quick Strike Ring, Heavy Dark Iron ring and an OEB--what I listed is all that's left on my want list.
I pass on the Brutality Blade as I have a Quel'Serrar and am not a loot whore. I've passed on the Wrath pieces that have dropped so far because A) they're fugly and B) because I like to match and C) because the 3rd Might set bonus gives me a total boner. :P oh, and D) I'm saving DKP for a DTC, BRE or UTB--whichever comes first.
I'm ready to be done with ZG, too--16500/21000 (two full clears this weekend and still no Zin'rokh!).
telva
Jun 5, 2006, @ 02:51 PM
Ahh, I forgot you had the Quel'Serrar though I should have known since you kept coming and doing price checks.
I am ready to be done with ZG as well though I have a feeling I will be there for a long time to come. I have 2 runs till I am revered and prolly another 100 till I finally get another Aegis plus the fact that I will have to go back to get 2 more once I happen to get some tier 3 stuff. Oh joy!

I won an Untamed Blade on free roll this weekend b/c nobody wanted to spend points on it Hatchet.
DTC is better for a warrior though IMO.

The UTB is sexy looking. I think you should tank Ony with it tomorrow night. Add some more spice and variety to things. You claim you don't generate enough rage with the sword and board, so have fun with it :)

Yes, but the UTB looks so M-F'in sexy! Plus, I'm sword specc'd. I really want the Bonereaver's Edge, though. But yeah, whichever drops first--I want to get rid of my sucky OEB...strength be damned--I want more stamina!

It was fun to try out my new Hat and mix it up in the world PeeVeePee. Losing Sunday's AB match was kind of a heartbreak cuz we worked for it, but my new passion in life is dispelling AP off of ultranova (macros in the works). Trinket mage = . I Enjoyed Greatly defeating Hatchet 1v1 at the mill without my precious potions but then he brought Vulras. Perhaps I will become known to the horde as the 2 minute potionpriest .
Highlights include Dalmar's DI dance lesson with many rapt onlookers (are they hungry?)
Also I cannot get into TS, I don't like a lot of noise and I don't think it would go over well. I might try listening with a earphone but me babbling into space at home is just going to result in the presence of mental health professionals.

We had our warrior with Sulfuras tank Ony with it after he crafted it--good times...maybe you should follow suit, Telva?
MVB
Jun 5, 2006, @ 03:14 PM
It actually helps you on Ony in a way, and hurts you.
The 30 or w/e FR + your regular FR gear would probably result in too many resisted fire breaths, and too little rage.
But, then, the impact damage would make up for it rage-wise.

Mike gets to tank her Tuesday, maybe I will do it next week. Unless collar drops tomorrow (and I win) then the tank would no longer need her and the rogue would resume going.
Plus I have never tanked her before, maybe someday I should give it a go.

Are you referring to the attempt on Sylvanas? I almost crapped my pants when the defense pings started going off--I was flagged in the outer ring, on my way to turn in marks at the battlemaster, noticed that the Undercity was under attack, stopped on a foot bridge, turned to look and saw an armada of red tags streaming down the canal, under my bridge and toward the Royal Quarter--I should've screenshotted it.
I tried to ride my horsey past everyone to watch the fireworks in safety from Sylvanas's pedestal, but got wtfpwned. I seriously thought that amount of manpower was gonna take her down, but y'all nubbed it up! If everyone from that raid had gone to Thunder Bluff, I'm sure you woulda killed Cairne.
Did he bat anyone off the mesas? I was too busy corpse-running to notice.

Magister used to be on Postman (which no one EEVVVEERRR wanted to run with the exception of beloved Winsome), NOW they went and put them on Hearthsinger. He spawns in 4 probal places, normally easiest to get to him from the back entrance. One time i've gone to get him he hadnt spawned in any of those 4 spots even tho everyone claims he's static.. He rather enjoys dropping SHaman regen mail Woolies (which a couple ppl in my guild have renamed butt shorts) for me.. too bad I'm not horde ><

Ultranova is a n00b, if I see him on the list I just equip my flame reflecting trinket, along with my shadow reflecting trinket( I also have the frost reflecting trinket but few horde mages use frost), and wait for him. He always ,without fail, launches his stupid powerpyro macro (Fireball followed by POM Pyro) at me and I just reflect it and watch him die.
