X-MAS and the U.S. of the Offended

You know, I just thought I would post my views on this "Macy's picket" and people saying "Stores who post Merry Christmas offend me", and these stores give in. WTF?!?!?!?! You know if I said something about everything that offends me, would that keep it from happening again? I doubt it. This week a church in my area that has a Vet center attached to it took down a nativity scene because "someone" said it was offensive. OMFG!!!!!!! Why? Because it's a sign celebrating and remembering the birth of Christ our Lord? You know, our troops over seas cannot do certain things because it would be "offensive" and against the Muslim and Arabs believes. And I have nothing against that. I totally respect the Muslim world's believes and would abide by their ways and rules if I were to ever go over there. So why is it that "someone" would come over here and say " A holiday, a RELIGIOUS holiday that the United States have celebrated for more years than ANY of us have been around is suddenly offensive? You could be someone from another country, then again it might not be. Who knows. If I were to go over seas and say "OH, THE WAY YOU BOW TO MECCA AND DO YOUR DAILY PRAYER OFFENDS ME" do you think that would stop it from happening? If everytime I saw and African American with a Malcom X or Martin Luther King shirt or hat on and I said "OH THAT OFFENDS ME YOU NEED TO STOP WEARING THOSE THINGS" (****Please Note that these things do not offend me because I am in no way predjutice and have total respect for these 2 men, the above statement is just a hypothisis*****) that THAT would stop it from happening? I say, if you don't believe in God or Jesus, then fine. If your not a Christian and follow a diffrent religion then fine. I totally respect that. BUT DON'T FUCK IT UP FOR ME!!!!!! I DON'T FUCK IT UP FOR YOU DO I !?!?!?!?!? (******PLEASE ALSO NOTE THIS IS NOT A FLAME TOWARD ANY OF MY HOMIES HERE IN TLSC. THIS IS JUST MY VENT TOWARDS SOMETHING THAT PISSES THE CRAP OUT OF ME*******) If things keep going this way, soon we will be called The United States of the Offended.

Here's the reason why that happens. Don't get mad at me i don't agree with it, this is just the way it seems to me.

We live in one of the only societies in the world that openly tries to embrace every form of culture. I have a picture i call "The true greatness of america". It is nothing more than a picture of the foodcourt in the largest mall in my area. I call it that, and love the picture because in it are many blacks, asians, hispanics, muslims, whites, etc all coexisting peacefully. In no other country that i have visited have i seen such a diversity, and that includes several parts of canada.

onto my point, it's that we try to embrace all of these cultures, and in an effort to not offend anyone, wind up offending ourselves. You my friend are a prime example of this.
the only solution i really see is, as bentusi put it, we all need to grow some balls, and that includes people on both sides. People need to worry less about offending others, and some people need to stop being offended by stupid little things.

As for the stores, they do it because simply, they don't wish to lose the business.

Atheist bullshit... You embrace every culture by HAVING ALL the holidays... celebrate everything. The only people that would be left out of that are athiests... because they celebrate 'jack shit'... which is always a lot of fun.
