Blade Runner

Damn fine choice.

Scarface or Fight Club for me.

Its got my 2 favorite scenes in movies ever, they make chills run through me every time.

Scarface: Right after Tony kills Frank, and goes outside on the balcony and sees the Blimp with "The world is Yours" and that music starts playing... insane.

Fight Club: Right after the Narrator tells Marla "You've met me at a very interesting time in my life," they hold hands, look out the window as the buildings begin to explode, and The Pixies "Where is My Mind?" starts playing.

I would have to say Pulp Fiction, ScareFace, Saving Private Ryan, and of coarse NAPOLEON DYNAMITE!

Napoleon Dynamite was mad sex0r.

Return of the King was good too, and so was Team America (just because of the hilariosity involved in that movie -- I almost lost my voice laughing). Fightclub was great too, and I must say Godfather just because I'm that type of guy.

cheers, and

mm..

Definitely Braveheart, as a scot I just love the movie.. even with it's horrible historical innacuracies.

Fight club and last of the mohicans get in there.

And The Rock, JUST for this one line.

Sean: "You ready?"

Nic: "I'll do my best"

Sean (with a smile): "Your best? Loosers always whine about their best. Winners go home and fuck the prom queen"

Nic (cocks gun): "Carla was the prom queen"

Sean: "Reallllllly...."

noooooooooo Empire Strike back is the greatest of the Star Wars movies now dare you foree say that the new ones are better, they have mangled the old ones now too i mean IV suck largely because of manakin skywalker, so of the worst acting EVAR, anyway best film of all time

The Shawshank Redemption

end of discussion surly, though Scarface is a great film too.

I would also like to nominate Armmagedon for an honrable mention, they acting is that bad that it makes me laugh so much, i think its great there is not a line in the whole film that is not a cliche

Star wars 4-6
Aliens
The Negotiator
I'm stuck between these two so i'll put em both
The Shawshank Redemption/American History X

The Crow is amazing. Brandon Lee is a god... its fucking insane what happened to him.

American History X makes my top 10, amazing performances all around.

I REALLLY want to see the Negotiator, my roommate saw it and said it was so fucking awesome, and Natalie Portman is the hottest jailbait in that movie ever, even though shes like....12.

Natalie portman isn't in Negotiator i don't think, maybe your thinking of 'Leon' which is also in my top 10.

The negotiator stars Samuel Jackson and Kevin Spacey and so witty and fast paced it's unreal. Leon is the film about the french hitman (forget the start who played it) and is such a slick film too.

Blacksand

I have so many movies I love, wow. This is going to be hard.

Boondock Saints - Low Budget, at times cheesy, but it still stands head and shoulders above any big budget Hollywood schlock put out in the past 15 years.

Goodfellas - Fuck Godfather, this -is- mobster life. And it's a true story.

Aliens - Yes, other people already said it .. but by far the best in the series.

Blade Runner - Insanity, complete and total. Thinking man's sci fi.

Requiem for a Dream - This movie WILL scar you for life.

Jacob's Ladder - This movie will also scar you for life.

The Usual Suspects - If you don't like this movie, there is something wrong with you.

Versus - Made overseas, completely insane action flick. Kung Fu, zombies, gunfights, and the funniest police officer EVER.

Equilibrium - My God. Watch this. Now. This movie is why Christian Bale is the new Batman.

True Romance - Twisted, you can completely tell Tarentino wrote this movie.

Resivoir Dogs - Required viewing.

Six String Samurai - Post-apocalyptic 50's rock 'n roll story. Mad Max meets LaBamba meets Crouching Tiger, and Death has an uncanny resemblence to Slash, plays speedmetal and is apparently quite an accomplished swordsman. Oh, and the hero is Buddy Holly.

Cyborg - Only VanDamme movie worth a flying fuck aside from Bloodsport, I don't know why I like this movie. I just do.

Bubba Ho-Tep - Bruce Campbell plays Elvis in a retirement home. Elvis meets JFK, battles ancient egyptian mummy. Mayhem and halarity ensues.

Evil Deal/Army of Darkness series - Why the series? Because they are all equally good. Also required viewing. Establishes why I actually liked Brisco County Jr. and Hercules/Xena .. Sam Raimi's a cinematic god to me. And Bruce Campbell is my hero.

Jesus Christ: Vampire Hunter - My god, get this movie RIGHT now. Christ reborn teams up with Mexican masked wrestling sensation El Santos to battle lesbian daywalking vampires in a kung fu musical set in Canada. Pure gold, watch this while drinking.

Anything by John Carpenter - This man is responsible for many of my odd quirks.
Assault on Precinct 13 - I think it's 13. I haven't seen the movie in a few years.
The Thing - Genius, remake, but genius.
Escape from NY - Snake kills future chef Issac Hayes. Gold.
Big Trouble in Little China - Came out in the same year as Aliens. My dad took me to see both multiple times in the theatre. I was 6, both made huge impressions on me. This and Enter the Dragon both left their mark in the Mortal Kombat games.
In the Mouth of Madness - Watch this soon, preferably on some type of hallucinatory drug.
They Live - Roddy Piper proves subliminal messages exist everywhere, and it's all a conspiracy perpetrated by people who've apparently been skinned alive. And only he can see them.

That's all I can think of right now, and these are indeed some of my favorite movies.

Tigre

Yup another vote for The Shawshank Redemption!! I'm a big fan of Robert Rodriquez and Quentin Terrantino's....Pulp, Four Rooms, Dusk til Dawn, Desperado series, etc, and the one made by Rodriquez, El Mariachi, set in Tijuana.

Grosse Pointe Blanke is a good one too, with Mini Driver and John Cussack...

Blacksand
Dec 22, 2004, @ 06:53 PM
You're missing something there, Tigre - Dusk til' Dawn series and Desperado series are Robert Rodriguez films, not Tarentino movies. They're close friends and their film styles are similar, however.

And El Mariachi is the beginning of the Desperado series. It goes El Mariachi -> Desperado -> Third Movie - not made. -> Once Upon a Time in Mexico.

Yes, they skipped a movie. I don't know why, but they flashback to it a lot during Once Upon in Mexico.

Ahh yes, I was thinking of ... The Professional I think its called... i think its Leon The Professional.

And fuck me Blackie, how'd I forget Boondock Saints? Thats top 5.

And as for whats in the suitcase: Lots of speculation. Best theory=his soul, or the diamonds that Buscemi got away with in Reservoir Dogs (assuming he got away at the end, not clear, lots of gunshots).

Edit: I'd also like to say that Blacksand has excellent taste in movies. Requiem=insanely fucked up movie, my friend started crying after it (he was starting to do coke and heroin around this time). Bruce Campbell=god as well.

Aliens. the first was good, the third was "meh i guess it was alight" and the 4th was total and complete crap, and aliens vs predator was the biggest dissappointment ever, but through it all the second remains the greatest Man Vs disgusting bug thing to ever exist. there might be a movie i like better, but i can't think of it right now and there's none i've ever watched more, except maybe the lion king.

Lion king holds my second place spot just BARELY below aliens.

I remembered some more that I enjoy a lot as well, I've seen an insane amount of movies and I can't be expected to remember them all, my memory is for shit to begin with.

Dark City - Same director as The Crow, and it's a better movie. Soundtrack is for shit however.

Falling Down - The best Michael Douglas movie, by far. Actually, it's an excellent movie by anyone's standards .. the faux McDonalds scene is a standout. Man walks into McDonalds, orders breakfast .. clerk tells him breakfast ends at 11, it's like 11:05. Man gets pissed, pulls out a gun. Then decides he wants lunch after all. Pays, leaves.

Romper Stomper - For anyone who says American History X is a great movie. You have to see this. Aussie flick, Russell Crowe is jacked like a motherfucker and all tattooed up, leading a band of skinheads. Brutal movie, it will make you flinch.

Higher Learning - The movie is preachy, but still powerful. Good watching, and Michael Rappaport is amazingly frightening in his descent into hate. I think it's Michael Rappaport, anyway. Hard to remember.

City of Lost Children was good as well.

I can't remember the name of it .. but it's the movie where the dad buys the satellite dish from satan, and the parents get sucked into the TV .. channel hopping from twisted show to twisted show, almost the same as what you know. Funny stuff, it really was. Then again, that might have been the mushrooms making it funny. I haven't seen it in a long time.

I have the Stanley Kubrick collection, he's made a shitload of amazing movies as well. I didn't really like the way he did A Clockwork Orange, he left a lot out.
Dr. Strangelove is great, however.
Full Metal Jacket - I only watch the first half, after that the movie loses steam.
The Shining - I despise Shelly Duvall, but Jack Nicholson makes it worth it.

Christ, I gotta run. There are more, I just don't have time!

Dec 29, 2004, @ 05:36 PM
Big Trouble in Little China is kinda hard to explain .. it's the same guy who did The Thing, however.

Hmm .. lemme see if I can get the main points right.

Kurt Russell plays a truck driver, he meets up with his buddy in Chinatown and they go to pick up his friend's fiancee from the airport, she's flying in from china. She gets kidnapped by some streetgang, and they give chase. During the chase they get caught up in some gangwar that then gets interrupted by three guys that come out of nowhere that apparently can't be killed. They escape, try and find the girl and many many things happen in between that I can't really talk about because it'd ruin the movie. Go rent it or buy it, you'll like it.

Phew, hard to chose, here's my list:

Starship troopers; such a great satire mixed up with humorous sci-fi and feel-good soldiering

Even horrizon; just liked it

Boondock saints; this film amazed me, it realy drew me in

The Evil Dead series; hehe, best horror-comedy I've ever seen

Usual suspects, american beauty, KPAX; hell, just about anything with Kevin Spacey, prolly my vavourite actor

Schindlers list; for the simple reason that it's the only film I've ever seen that has managed to make me cry. At the end, when the war is over, and Schindler thinks he could have done more, save just a few more people, but he can't.

P.S. oh oh oh forgot the Thing, gotta include the Thing :)

Heres Some more I liked....

Wild things (not only did if have denise richards nude in it it was an awesome movie with tight ass plot twists)

Star Trek 2 : The Wrath Of Khan (the space battle in the nebula between the enterprise and reliant was so awesome)

Princess Mononoki (did I spell it right?)

Brain Doners (dont ask me why its slapstick comedy is hilarious to me)

Silence Of The Lambs

Amistad

Memphis Belle

To Kill A Mockingbird (ahhhhh Gregory Peck one of the greatest actors to ever live, and apparently one of the greatest "good ol' boys" that ever lived)

Desperado

Young Guns ("you done dropped both yer' guns so what cha' gonna do now?")

Hells Kitchin (this movie is for the true sado masochist into auto-erotic-asfictiation / sociopathic freak show kinda thing....btw also has a damn good performance by angelina jolee)

Girl Interrupted

NATURAL BORN KILLERS (Did anyone say this one yet?)

The Doors

Revenge of the nerds (ill never forget as long as I live that performance they did with the electric violin / rhyming / synthisizers believe it or not I think this scene influenced alot of musicians to try genre mixing and the such....... also who could foget We Are The Champions at the end)

Monty Pythons Search For The Holy Grail

Se7en

The Seventh Sign

Apollo 13

The Right Stuff ( one of my all time favorites........."Lets Light This Candle")

National Lampoons Christmas Vacation

ALSO we need to list some of the worst movies ever made.....

Plan Nine From Outerspace (directed By Ed Wood and had legosi in it as a zombie)

Red Planet (when I get to the after life im asking the almight only one question "Red Planet god what the fuck was that all about?")

Traffic (dear lord this one was horrible)

Leprechaun (......so bad they were hilarious)

The Cube (this is the most bloody diarrhea piece of liquid shit Ive ever seen)

Nightmare on Elm Street 2 (the part where the coach is popped repeatedly on the ass with a floating ghost towel and they show every bit of it was a bit on the faggy uncalled for hilarious ass dumb shit side.)

Gigli -yall know that J-Lo and whats-his-fuckin-names movie they produced and promoted my friend wanted me to see it with her........ (but alas no piece of ass is worth watching this movie it actually made me stupider by watching it and I was ashamed I relegated myself to such cruel and unusual torture for such things)

Blair Witch Project (this cult-phenomenon / enormous week old pile of the afterbirths of lesbian blood farts pissed me off so bad when I saw it mainly because the acting sucked, the camera work sucked, no cool scenes where we actually get to "see" something creepy, and so many said it was so awesome and ahead of its time, I really hope to god its time never comes)

Blair Witch 2 (now this one was just a personal insult to all who watched it because they expected us to be entertained by it and even possibly like this crap....... That pisses me off that they think I am stupid, callous, and weak minded enough to watch it past its first few minutes I was truely in my heart offended)

Cold As Ice (Vanilla mutherfuckin ice...........in a movie thats an unforgivible conglomeration of 2 sins [1 vanilla ices music, 2 vanilla ice in something other than music] done to the gods of art and I know those responsible for this gay marriage of white-prepboy-weak-rhymes and no-story-line-bathtub-cinema will have to answer to the powers that be upon their day of judgement and shall be grievously punished, and this I pray for nightly...)

Home Grown (watched it because it was obviously about marijuana and I was unaware before watching this but there are things that are cannabis based that are just unentertaining and unenjoyable *shivers*)

Basketball Diaries (I dont care what critical acclaim it got. At the art when uber fag Leonardo DiCaprio sucks a dude dick for heroin I stopped the tape pulled it out and just smashed the VHS casette with my bare hands cutting my palms all to hell.....ahhhh the pain made me foget all about the movie and I was able to not be totally disturbed about it the rest of the day.)

The Bird Cage (once again a movie all about turd burglers has no place on a red blooded american like myselfs TV. its just another form of terrorism and should be dealt with just like afghanistan and iraq.)

Shawshank Redemption- Just gripped me, loved it and watched it loads

Big Lebowski - Best lines ever
'THIS IS WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU FUCK A STRANGER IN THE ASS',
'Are you ready to be fucked man? If you pull annny of your shit on me in the lanes? Ill take your pistol and stick it up your ass and pull the trigger till it goes click' - Jesus.....'THATS RIGHT MAN, nobody fucks with the JESUS'

Usual Suspects - Who IS Kayersoze?

Taxi Driver - You lookin at ME?

Scarface - OMFG THE CHAIN SAW

Stalingard - Im an historian, what can I say. Historically accurate SHOCK HORROR - also Das Boot
