so I found out yesterday, well really on Monday, that my little area of the Northrop Grumman world is getting reorganized. We are getting moved out of the business area (BA) we have lived in for the past 25 years and getting put into a new one. Normally since this is an internal company thing it wouldn't be a big deal, and for the most part it isn't. However, there are a couple of major benefits that we get by working in our current BA:
#1: We get every other Friday off. It is sort of a flex time thing because we work 9 hours a day rather than 8. I am assuming we probably won't loose this because it is exactly that, flex time, but it is one of the reasons why I came to this place.
#2: We get the last week of the year off. This is done by working the little holidays that schools and the Federal Gov. get during the year. We don't get MLK Day, Presidents Day, Veterans Day, and Columbus day off, but instead get the week from Christmas to New Years off. This is a very good thing because working the other holidays is nothing. But who wants to worry about work around the holidays? If I lose this Ima be pissed.

Ok enough ranting, we got to Frank last night and probably should have downed him. Ya it was our first shot at him, but on the second attempt we got him to 25%. There is no reason we should not have improved.

A couple things about this fight....He is easy as hell to tank. I am not sure the DPS can't start after 2 sunders, Frank just doesn't switch targets. How do I know this? When Fel and I were tanking him, when we got too many debuffs, I had to use every cooldown but CS to get aggro off of Fel and vice versa. So we should probably treat him like Moam/Vael and just nuke from the beginning.

Secondly, I think our success/failure falls on the mages in this fight. The longer they stay alive the lower Frank's % got. I am not sure there is a disconnect between the mages and the healers, or the mages are too stationary during this fight, or what. But when you look up at 60% and all the mages are dead, and then you look up when you are dead and Frank is at 55% (those numbers probably aren't exact so don't get technical with me), the fate of the fight lies with the AoE.

As for AQ40 as a whole, I am not sure whether I like it or not. I admit I love the boss fights. Blizzard did a good job of coming up with stuff that is unique and different looking about all the bosses. However, I find the place too big and the trash after Skeram is just stupid. I will admit to liking the trash before Frank though. It is annoying enough to be difficult, but it can be breezed through without hesitation.

Bah, NR finding. I realize that it is important, I am just not looking forward to it. I have too much gear as it is and now I get to carry around antoher set of stuff for when I go to AQ40, oh joy! Then I might as well start getting stuff for Naxx because it is just around the corner, double oh joy! When will it all end?

I believe you right about the mages and what was killing me most was the worms after they weren't killed after 20s. One time I got nuked for 15k from these bad boys. Those worms soooo need to go down quickly and I don't think we had enough FF on them so we got wipe from their enrage.

I would suggest that on this fight that everyone go to the interface tab in the option menu list and slide the camera follow to max range. Do this so you have the widest field of vision possible for this fight and can have an easier time seeing that a worm is incoming.

I did find that it was much easier for me to survive by simply not using blizzard and FF frankriss. Since the fast spawning bug don't have alot of HPi the first place wouldn't it be easier to just have the pally's spam consecration in a tight area while the mages and lock just FF frankriss and the worms from that area?

Rawr.

G'morning :/

Last night was amazing :D A little freakout on Sartura the first time then recollected ourselves for the second time and kicked her butt :D.

(Pallys own!) /Cough /cough

Gren, I like your idea about consecration but..we were getting owned just as fast. We would lose Goenitz, Corb took his salv threw rf and started consecration owned...then I'd do it....Owned. A really big thing is...Consecration is very Mana Hefty :/ if I were to consecration spam i'd be oom really quick :/ while trying to spot heal at the same time which is non-existant if im getting the shit beat out of me :/

It's bad enough we've been modeled after first a procupine, then a can opener, now you want us in pink?

Dreadnaught isn't "oh warriors get cool armor," it's simply clearing the old debt.

The healers have enough trouble on Nef without me trying to kill myself.

Grats on Sartura last night! Nice work.
PRG has decided to allow Sartura to continue to buzz around her little cave for this week. It was really a matter of pity. We unanimously felt that her life was so pathetic that killing her would be doing her more of a service than anything else. I actually don't really know what we were doing incorrectly. Anyhow - next week we'll have a fresh perspective on it and I'm sure we'll take her down.
Tonight is BWL night, which should be a good time. I haven't seen RG-FM in weeks. Too bad I have no RP left because I bid like a damn fool.

my little area of the Northrop Grumman world is getting reorganized.

I work for Northrop Grumman as well, Tactical Systems, Huntsville, AL.

I talked to several OR buds last night on Fankriss. They place tanks in specific places to nab the elite worms that spawn, right at the two locations they come from. They also use druids on occasion here. Placing tanks so that they are the first thing an elite worm sees is the key. These worms flatten me in 2 hits, so intercepting them before they get to clothies is extremely important.

I think we can still do the aoe trick with the non-elites, as long as we can get them to Frank.

Sat wasn't hard once we spread out and seemingly got all the adds under control. One thing I learned at Kord's screaming at me, when she spins back the hell up. Once I did that, I made the healers life easier which kept me alive. I would like to complain that that bish knows exactly when I am about to stun because the second I hit CB, here comes whirlwind to waste it.

If HotC is committed to stay with the AoE strategy, Frank needs to die faster. When I have paladins pulling aggro, 2 MT alternating, and mages getting oneshotted due to an aggro mechanism I don't quite comprehend fully yet, more dmg needs to be applied to Frank because the balance we were using was not sustainable.

It was also suggested to me by an observant player that at least on some of the attempts Fankriss had about 5 debuffs on him, so that's pretty crappy DoTting by those responsible for it.

So I would rebut by saying I'm pretty sure people could DPS 25% better, but I'm also sure that it's not possible to just 'heal the mages' and do it. We were already discussing it and no improvement was attained.

I get to work for Technical Services. No idea what this means but I am supposed to find out today.

telva
May 18, 2006, @ 02:34 PM
I do not doubt you Lard, that was just my observation, because when the mages died, the adds became uncontrollable. I was hoping to find a better way for them to survive, ie run around a little bit, to help avoid damage rather than fully rely on the healers.

Now if we take the Talut strategy into account. If we put an OT at each spawn point, then we could allow the hunters to DPS the worms at range, the mages/warlocks AoE the trash, the rogues to DPS Frank, with the Locks continuously dotting Frank. Now the question is, can the hunters do enough DPS to down the spawns in 20 secs?

MVB
May 18, 2006, @ 02:42 PM
The worms do not come from the hatchling spawn points, you need a 6th tank picking those up, mages warlocks range Fankriss and AOE the trash.

Thibor
May 18, 2006, @ 03:24 PM
How much HP do the worms have?

W/ a tank holding aggro, a well equiped hunter could probably do the job.

in 20secs I can pump out way over 10k dmg, fully buffed for a boss fight even more.

In a few weeks once we get a hunter w/ 8/8 DS and a Sartura Trinket, that dmg will 2x

Zephonia
May 18, 2006, @ 03:29 PM
All 5 hunters on one worm, I'd say we could probably nuke the adds in 20 secs as long as it's tanked.

Talut
May 18, 2006, @ 03:37 PM
I'm still kickin myself for not burning points on that trinket.

AFAIK tho, the trinket only affects your personal damage, whereas the 8/8 DS bonus affects any ranged attackers damage.

Now I'm with an incredible girl and things even though young, are advancing very quickly. She moves in August 22nd. She will become a WoW player August 23rd at the latest....at least that is my hopes :P that or I'm getting whipped into retirement.

"Hot fashions" isn't a sentence. However, "hey, check out these hot fashions!" is and I find it always turns heads when I'm reading fash mags with my gal pals--what girl doesn't go gaga over the latest Paris creations?!

I think you meant that it's really great to use "hot fashions" in a sentence. And I have to agree, hence my overuse of the term "hot fashions" in this thread.
